ROYAL ST. GEORGE & NATIONAL YACHT CLUB TO JOINTLY HOST 2009 MITSUBISHI MOTORS YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP

Only six years in existence but already a firm fixture in the annual race diary, this years Youth an International Classes Regatta will take place on May 9th & 10th 2009 and will for the first time be jointly hosted by The Royal St. George and National Yacht Club.

Up to 150 of the brightest young racers are expected to attend with sailors expected to travel from all corners of Ireland as well as from clubs in England, Scotland and Wales. Very competitive fleet racing is expected on the water for an event, which is central to the preparations to host the 2012 ISAF World Youth Championships in Dun Laoghaire.

Six races are scheduled on two courses that will be used for the 2012 Worlds on Dublin Bay, with the event open to Optimist, Topper, RS Feva, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7 and 420 classes.

This year’s youth regatta will once again be sponsored by Mitsubishi Motors Ireland who has been involved with the event since it was first run in 2004.
